The City of Long Beach is a national leader in civic, social, and government innovation. The Civic Innovation Summit highlights current innovation efforts among different sectors, and brings together the ingenuity of skilled leaders and actors that work towards developing urban solutions to improve the lives of residents. Everyone from designers and entrepreneurs to policymakers and activists are welcome to join and celebrate outstanding efforts around the use of open data, local government support, and facilitated design processes.

Objective

  • Recognizing civic based innovation projects

  • Increase interest and participation in civic innovation

  • Share best practices in civic innovation

  • Increase knowledge sharing to collaboratively create lasting, impactful urban solutions

  • Create, support, and foster a multidisciplinary approach to innovating for the public good

  • University faculty and students interested in public administration, public policy, design thinking, government technology, business administration, and innovation;
